Manly Spirits Co Barrel Aged Gin

When Manly Spirits was founded, there weren’t anywhere near as many gin distilleries as there are today. And the team at Manly Spirits set out to create spirits that represent the Northern beaches of Sydney and the local seaside.

We reckon they’ve definitely achieved that!

As the Australian whisky scene has begun to accelerate over the last 5 years, we’ve seen a growing number of aged gins that have spent a little time (perhaps 6-12 months) in an oak barrel to give the gin a small amount of the whisky colour, and a bit of oaky complexity. The team at Manly Spirits do something a little different with their Barrel Aged Gin (which starts life as their Australian Native Gin) – after it spends just six months in ex-Bourbon and ex-Tasmanian whisky barrels (we’d call this “Resposado” or “rested” if it were Tequila), it is then blended with between 5 and 7% of their 3 year old whisky. This adds a fullness of flavour that we often don’t see from other makers.
